FREE CE's, Coffee, and Greenbuild 2013 E Series:
A LEED School: Renovation, Addition, Community, & Curriculum
If you missed Greenbuild last year, now's your chance to hear and see one of the top-notch sessions that was recorded. This is an extremely valuable FREE resource to chapter members, and only $25 for non-members.
Can an existing school be the leader in creating new green buildings in your community? We think so. Makefield Elementary School, an existing building that dated back to 1923 with multiple additions between 1950-1990. Our panel will present perspectives from the design professional, school principal, and community as key stakeholders. Specific LEED strategies pursued to address the school's needs and the LEED credits will be reviewed in addition to the challenges and lessons learned. Key strategies that will be discussed include: green roof and storm water BMPs, integration of solar energy and energy efficiency throughout, waterless urinals, and optimizing indoor environmental quality.
This session is approved for 1 hour of LEED Specific (LEED AP BD+C) GBCI hours.
