Best of GreenBuild Webcast Series -- Getting the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) credit in LEED v4

If you missed 2014 GreenBuild, now is your chance to see some of the top-notch sessions that were recorded.

A big change in LEED rewards designers who use life cycle analysis (LCA) to verifiably reduce the environmental impact of buildings.  Three points are available and they are easier to achieve than they look.  The new credit in LEED v4 is Option 4 of the “Building lifecycle impact reduction” credit, part of the big leap forward in the LEED v4 materials and resources credits.  This webcast will provide an overview of LCA and the new credit, and present a case study demonstrating how it might be achieved on a project.  It will enable you to understand not only how to achieve these LCA points on a LEED project, but also how to use LCA to quantify important metrics in sustainability performance of a building.  It can make a real difference on the next building you work in or on.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand life cycle assessment (LCA)
  • Apply LCA to design projects
  • Achieve the new LEED v4 LCA credits
  • Measure the environmental impacts of building material choices

  • Jennifer O’Connor, President, Athena Sustainable Materials Institute, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
