“You can’t manage what you don’t measure.” Companies lack a standard for measuring and highlighting their progress away from chemicals of concern to human health and the environment to safer alternatives. Chemical footprinting and MR Credit “Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Material Ingredients” fill a missing piece in sustainability metrics – enabling manufacturers, purchasers, and specifiers to evaluate their progress, and the progress of suppliers, to safer alternatives. Management strategy, chemical inventory and optimization, continuous improvement, and transparency are core components of chemical footprinting and MR Credit “Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Material Ingredients.” A panel including a purchaser, specifier, and environmental non-profit examine how to do chemical footprints and fulfill option 3 of MR Credit “Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Material Ingredients.”
